Budget hotels in Dubai, the cheapest and most affordable places to stay, are mostly 2- and 3-star hotels and modern budget chains such as Rove, ibis, Premier Inn and Hampton by Hilton. The best areas for value are Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Barsha and the Trade Centre district, all on the metro, and there are a few good budget options near the beach at JBR, La Mer and Umm Suqeim.

A cheap hotel in Dubai doesn’t have to mean a poor stay. All 13 hotels below list free WiFi, most have a pool, and several score 9 or more out of 10 with guests. The trade-offs are simpler rooms, fewer places to eat and, for most of them, a metro or taxi ride to the beach. This guide covers what to check before you book, our picks grouped by area, a comparison table and practical ways to make your money go further. For an overview of every area, see our guide to where to stay in Dubai.

What counts as a budget hotel in Dubai?

In Dubai, “budget” usually means a 2- or 3-star hotel, or a newer budget-chain hotel with compact, modern rooms and a short list of facilities. Twelve of the 13 hotels in this guide are 3-star; Mark Inn Hotel Deira is 2-star.

Budget chains keep things simple: usually one or two places to eat, self-service extras such as the laundromat at Rove City Centre, and no long list of restaurants and bars. Many still have a pool and a gym, which matters in Dubai’s heat.

How to choose a budget hotel in Dubai

Choose the area first, then check what the rate includes. A good-value room near a metro station will usually serve you better than a slightly cheaper one that leaves you dependent on taxis.

Which area suits a budget stay?

  • Deira and Bur Dubai. Old Dubai on either side of the creek, with the souks, abras and Al Fahidi. Deira is close to Dubai International Airport (DXB), while the beaches are a metro or taxi ride away. See our Deira guide and Bur Dubai guide.
  • Trade Centre and the edge of Downtown. On Sheikh Zayed Road between old and new Dubai, handy for events at Dubai World Trade Centre and short trips to Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall.
  • Al Barsha and Barsha Heights. Around Mall of the Emirates, roughly halfway between Downtown and Dubai Marina, with several modern 3-star hotels with rooftop pools.
  • The beach. JBR, La Mer and Umm Suqeim have a handful of budget options. They are the right choice if a beach holiday is the main point of your trip.
  • The airport. Best for one night before or after a flight.

Stay near a metro station

Being near a metro station saves both time and taxi fares. Dubai Metro has two lines. The Red Line stops at Airport Terminals 1 and 3 and runs through Deira, Bur Dubai, Trade Centre, Downtown and Al Barsha, then on past Dubai Marina (Sobha Realty station) and Jumeirah Lakes Towers (DMCC station). The Green Line runs around the creek through Deira and Bur Dubai.

Several stations have new names, so check them when you plan your route: Al Jafiliya is now Max Fashion, GGICO is now Al Garhoud and Al Fahidi is now Sharaf DG, according to Khaleej Times. Our Dubai Metro guide explains how the system works.

Check what the rate includes

  • Breakfast. Many hotels sell both room-only and breakfast-included rates, so compare the two. Hampton by Hilton Dubai Al Seef says a hot breakfast is free every day.
  • WiFi and parking. All 13 picks list free WiFi, and seven list free parking, which helps if you’re hiring a car.
  • Pools. Ten of the 13 list a pool, several of them on the roof. ibis Dubai World Trade Centre, Mark Inn Hotel Deira and Beach Walk Boutique Jumeirah don’t.
  • Room size and sofa beds. Budget rooms are usually set up for two adults. If you’re travelling with a child, look for family or interconnecting rooms (eight of our picks list them, including Rove Downtown, Rove JBR and Hampton by Hilton Al Barsha) or a sofa bed (Mark Inn lists one in selected rooms), and check the maximum occupancy before you book.

Budget for the Tourism Dirham fee

Hotels in Dubai add a Tourism Dirham fee for each room, for each night. The UAE government portal puts it at AED 7 to AED 20 depending on the hotel’s category, for a maximum of 30 consecutive nights. Dubai’s fee schedule sets it at AED 10 a night for 2- and 3-star hotels, which covers every hotel in this guide, compared with AED 15 at 4-star and AED 20 at 5-star hotels.

Under Dubai’s rules, the fee is charged to the main guest in each room, whoever made the booking. It is usually not included in the price you see online, so expect to pay it at the hotel.

Best budget hotels in Deira and Bur Dubai

Old Dubai has some of the city’s best-value hotels, with the souks, the creek and the abra crossings close by. Deira is also close to the airport, which makes it a good base for short trips.

Hampton by Hilton Dubai Al Seef

Area: Bur Dubai, Al Seef on Dubai Creek · Best for: A free hot breakfast by the creek · Guest rating: 8.4/10 (2,352 reviews)

Good to know: Its overall rating is the lowest of our picks, but guests score the location 9.0, and free parking is listed.

Best budget hotels near Trade Centre and Downtown

The Trade Centre district on Sheikh Zayed Road sits between old and new Dubai and suits business trips to Dubai World Trade Centre. For Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, Rove Downtown is the budget pick. See our guides to hotels near Dubai World Trade Centre and DIFC and Downtown Dubai.

ibis Dubai World Trade Centre

Area: Trade Centre, Sheikh Zayed Road · Best for: Business trips and sightseeing by metro · Guest rating: 9.0/10 (4,834 reviews)

The listing says the metro is about five minutes away, and the hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a terrace and a travel desk for booking trips such as desert safaris. Guests rate the location 9.5.

The listing places it next to Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall, with 26 sq m rooms (30 percent of them interconnecting), an outdoor pool and sundeck, a 24-hour gym and late check-out at 14:00. It has more guest reviews than any other Rove hotel in this guide.

Good to know: The listing puts the Dubai Mall/Burj Khalifa metro station a four-minute drive away, so it isn’t a quick walk to the train.

Best budget hotels in Al Barsha and Barsha Heights

Al Barsha, around Mall of the Emirates, and neighbouring Barsha Heights have a cluster of modern 3-star hotels, each of the three below with a rooftop pool. You’re roughly halfway between Downtown and Dubai Marina. See our Al Barsha guide.

A 3-star hotel close to Mall of the Emirates with a rooftop, temperature-controlled pool, a sauna, a steam room, a fitness centre and a small kids’ pool. Some rooms interconnect, and selected rooms have a balcony.

Good to know: An airport shuttle is listed among the facilities, but not as free, so ask the hotel about the cost before you rely on it.

Best budget hotels near the beach

Most hotels on Dubai’s beaches are resorts, but a few budget options put you close to the sand. These three suit travellers for whom the beach matters more than a big hotel pool.

Rove JBR

Area: JBR, Jumeirah Beach Residence · Best for: A beach holiday on a budget · Guest rating: 9.5/10 (2,375 reviews)

The highest-rated hotel on our list, with a year-round outdoor pool, a games room, family rooms and free on-site parking. Guests rate the location 9.7, and the listing says it is highly rated for its beach access.

Good to know: Guests also give it 9.5 for value for money, the highest score of our picks.

Rove La Mer Beach, Jumeirah

The listing describes direct beachfront access and garden views, with family and interconnected rooms, a fitness centre, a tour desk and a restaurant with halal, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Guests rate the location 9.5.

Good to know: No pool appears in the listed facilities, so the sea is where you’ll swim.

Best budget hotel near the airport

For a late arrival or an early flight, a hotel next to DXB saves a long transfer. Our Dubai airport hotels guide covers more options at DXB and Al Maktoum International (DWC).

Premier Inn Dubai International Airport

Area: Airport, Garhoud, opposite Terminal 3 · Best for: Late arrivals and early flights · Guest rating: 8.7/10 (22,697 reviews)

Run by an Emirates Group company, with an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, the all-day Nuevo restaurant and Mr. Toad’s Pub & Kitchen. Rooms have a 43-inch smart TV, a work desk and tea and coffee facilities.

How to save money on a Dubai trip

The biggest savings come from when you travel, how you get around and how many paid attractions you book.

  • Travel in summer if you can handle the heat. May to September is the hottest part of the year (see Dubai weather by month), and it is when Dubai’s tourism board runs its summer campaign. Dubai Summer Surprises, which ran from 2 July to 30 August in 2026, promotes summer hotel offers alongside citywide deals. Compare the same hotel across a few different dates before you book.
  • Get a Nol card. A Silver Nol card costs AED 25, including AED 19 of credit, from any metro ticket office, and works on the metro, tram, buses and water buses. A trip within one zone costs AED 3 with the card, compared with AED 4 on the paper Red ticket (RTA). Silver cards can also hold a 7-day travel pass.
  • Take the metro from the airport. The Red Line stops at Terminals 1 and 3. The RTA allows two suitcases per passenger: one large (up to 81 x 58 x 30 cm) and one small (up to 55 x 38 x 20 cm).
  • Book a free-cancellation rate. The UK Foreign Office advises British travellers in the Middle East to be prepared for possible flight cancellations and periodic airspace closures, so flexibility is worth having. Our guide Is Dubai safe right now? has the latest official advice.
  • Fill your days with free sights. Some of Dubai’s best experiences cost little or nothing, as the next section shows.

Free and cheap things to do in Dubai

Dubai has plenty to do without paying for tickets, from fountain shows to old-town walks and public beaches.

  • Watch the Dubai Fountain. Shows run every 30 minutes from 6pm on Burj Lake, below Burj Khalifa (Visit Dubai). You can watch from the waterside; the boardwalk and lake rides are paid extras.
  • Walk Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Dubai’s restored old town in Bur Dubai, with wind-tower buildings, galleries and museums along narrow lanes.
  • Cross the creek by abra. A traditional abra between the Bur Dubai and Deira Old Souq stations costs AED 1 per person, paid in cash (RTA).
  • Spend a day on a public beach. JBR has a public beach, and Kite Beach in Jumeirah adds watersports, a running track and places to eat, with Burj Al Arab in view.
  • Choose one or two paid trips. See the city from the Dubai Frame in Zabeel Park, join an old Dubai street food tour with an abra ride (rated 4.9 by more than 7,600 guests), or compare desert safaris (rated 4.9 by more than 380,000 guests).

Budget hotels in Dubai: frequently asked questions

What counts as a budget hotel in Dubai?

Usually a 2- or 3-star hotel or a modern budget chain such as Rove, ibis, Premier Inn or Hampton by Hilton. Rooms are simpler and there are fewer restaurants than at bigger hotels, but many still have a pool, a gym and free WiFi.

Which area of Dubai is best for budget hotels?

Deira and Bur Dubai have plenty of good-value hotels, and Deira is close to the airport. Al Barsha and the Trade Centre district are good alternatives on the Red Line metro. See our Deira guide and Al Barsha guide.

Are there cheap hotels in Dubai near the beach?

Yes, a few. Rove JBR, Rove La Mer Beach and Beach Walk Boutique Jumeirah are budget options close to the sea, but the choice is smaller than in Deira or Al Barsha, so book early for busy dates.

Do budget hotels in Dubai charge a Tourism Dirham fee?

Yes. Hotels charge it per room, per night, for up to 30 consecutive nights. It ranges from AED 7 to AED 20 depending on the hotel’s category, is AED 10 at 2- and 3-star hotels, and is usually paid at the hotel rather than included in the online price.

Can I get from the airport to a budget hotel by metro?

Often, yes. The Red Line stops at Terminals 1 and 3 and serves Deira, Bur Dubai, Trade Centre, Downtown and Al Barsha. Each passenger may bring two suitcases, one large and one small. Our Dubai Metro guide has the details.
