The best family hotels in Dubai are the beach resorts on Palm Jumeirah, at JBR and along the Jumeirah beach, where you get kids’ clubs, children’s pools and, at a few, a water park as part of your stay. For a theme park holiday, two of our picks sit right at Dubai Parks and Resorts.

Below are 14 family hotels in four groups, from Atlantis to budget Rove hotels with interconnected rooms. We checked kids’ club ages and water park access against each hotel’s own website or Booking.com listing, and say so where a hotel doesn’t confirm something. You’ll also find a comparison table, tips on heat and child tickets, and answers to common questions. If you’re still choosing an area, start with our guide to where to stay in Dubai.
What is the best area to stay in Dubai with kids?
For most families, the best areas are Palm Jumeirah, JBR and Dubai Marina, or the Jumeirah beach around Madinat Jumeirah, because that’s where the big beach resorts with kids’ clubs and pools are. Stay at Dubai Parks and Resorts only if theme parks are the main point of the trip.
- Palm Jumeirah has large resorts on private beaches, including Atlantis with its Aquaventure water park. The Palm West Beach hotels sit near the entrance to the island. See our Palm Jumeirah hotels guide.
- JBR and Dubai Marina give you a beachfront strip with The Walk’s cafés and shops on the doorstep, and the widest range of budgets, including apartment-style suites. See our Dubai Marina and JBR guide.
- The Jumeirah beach in Umm Suqeim is home to Madinat Jumeirah and Jumeirah Beach Hotel: long private beaches and kids’ clubs, between the Marina and Downtown. See our Jumeirah beach hotels guide.
- Dubai Parks and Resorts, in the far south-west of the city, is home to LEGOLAND Dubai, LEGOLAND Water Park, MOTIONGATE Dubai and Real Madrid World. It’s handy for park days but well away from the main beach areas, so you may want to split your stay.
If sightseeing matters more than the beach, a city hotel with a big pool near Downtown can work well too. Our picks are in the city section below.
What to look for in a family hotel in Dubai
Start with your children’s ages: kids’ club rules, pools and room layouts matter more than the star rating.
- Kids’ club and age range. Most clubs in this guide take children from 4 to 12, one starts at 3, and younger children may need a parent or nanny with them. Check whether the club is free or charged per session, and book sessions early in school holidays.
- Family rooms, interconnected rooms or suites. Families of four or more are more comfortable in a family room, two interconnected rooms or a suite than squeezed into one standard room.
- A shallow or kids’ pool. Look for a dedicated children’s pool, ideally shaded or with a lifeguard, plus a separate adults-only pool if you want quieter time.
- A beach. A hotel’s private beach makes beach days easy. On any beach, swim only where there are lifeguards and flags.
- A water park on site or free entry. Only some hotels include water park entry, and the rules change. Check what your rate includes before you book.
- Babysitting. Useful for an evening out; book it in advance.
- A kitchen for longer stays. Suites with a kitchen let you do breakfasts and simple meals, which saves money over a week or more.

These resorts have a water park on site, and at some your entry is included. They are the easiest choice if your children would happily spend every day on slides.

Practical tips for Dubai with kids
Travel between November and April if you can, keep outdoor time to mornings and late afternoons, and check the age rules before you buy tickets.
When to go and how to handle the heat
November to April is the coolest and most comfortable time to visit, as our Dubai weather guide explains. From June to September, average daytime highs are around 40 to 42°C with high humidity, so plan pool time early and late, and save indoor attractions for the middle of the day. If you’re tied to school holidays, book early to get the family room or interconnected rooms you want.
Beach and pool safety
GOV.UK’s advice is to swim only at beaches with lifeguards and flags, and never when a red flag is flying, as rip currents can occur at any beach. Hotel pools have their own rules for children, so check them on arrival.
Child tickets at attractions
Most attractions price children by age or height, and the youngest often go free.
- Aquaventure: children aged 2 and under go free, the child rate is for ages 3 to 6 who are under 1.2 m, and the price is set by height rather than age. Some rides are only for guests over 1.2 m.
- Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo: under-2s go free, everyone else pays the same price, and under-15s must be with an adult.
- Desert safaris: age rules vary by operator. The premium red dunes safari below says it isn’t suitable for children under 3, under-12s must ride camels with an adult, and under-16s can’t ride a quad bike alone. Our desert safari guide has more.
Brunches with children
Children are welcome at family brunches, but many party brunches are adults only. The Saturday brunch at Bisou Bisou at FIVE LUXE JBR, for example, is for ages 21 and over, with ID checked on request. Family brunches usually sell child tickets by age band: Brunchtopia family brunch at Marriott Marquis Dubai Creek has a child ticket for ages 6 to 12, lets under-6s in free (subject to venue policy) and serves alcohol only to guests aged 21 and over (listed until 31 October).
Teenagers and getting around
Under-18s can’t stay in a hotel without an adult, according to GOV.UK. Dubai also has special taxis for women and children, which you can hail or book in advance. For the latest official travel advice, including the regional situation and what it means for flights, see our guide Is Dubai safe right now?, which we keep up to date.
Things to do in Dubai with kids
The easiest family days out are water parks, aquariums and indoor attractions, plus a desert safari for children old enough to enjoy it. All of these can be booked online in advance.
- Aquaventure day pass and Lost World Aquarium, rated 4.5 by more than 5,700 guests. You won’t need it if you’re staying at Atlantis.
- Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, rated 4.2 by more than 5,100 guests.
- The Green Planet, an indoor rainforest at City Walk with sloths and monkeys, rated 4.5 by more than 3,900 guests. A good choice for the hottest part of the day.
- Theme and amusement park tickets.
- Premium red dunes safari with camel ride and BBQ, rated 4.9 by more than 30,000 guests. Check the age rules above first.
- More family-friendly activities in Dubai.
