Palm Jumeirah is the place to stay in Dubai for a proper beach resort holiday. Most Palm Jumeirah hotels have their own stretch of sand and pools, and Atlantis, Aquaventure World and The View at The Palm are all on the island.

The trade-offs: there are no real budget hotels and no metro, and the crescent resorts are a taxi ride from almost everything else in Dubai. This guide explains how the trunk, fronds and crescent differ, picks nine hotels from Atlantis to the best-value four-stars, and covers dining, transport and airport times. For other parts of the city, see our guide to where to stay in Dubai.

Is Palm Jumeirah the right area for you?

Yes, if you plan to spend most of your time at a beach resort; less so if you want to sightsee every day.

It suits you if:

  • You want a beach, pools and restaurants without leaving your hotel
  • You are travelling with children and want Aquaventure World on your doorstep
  • You want a splurge at one of Dubai’s best-known resorts
  • You are happy to take taxis when you do go out

Think twice if:

  • Most of your plans are in Downtown, old Dubai or Deira
  • You want to get around by metro
  • You are on a tight budget

For a beach with easier transport, try Dubai Marina next door; for the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai is the better base.

The parts of Palm Jumeirah: trunk, fronds and crescent

The Palm has three parts: the trunk joined to the mainland, 17 fronds lined with private villas, and an 11 km crescent that wraps around them and holds most of the island’s hotels. Which one you choose decides how easily you get around.

  • The trunk is the central spine, with apartment towers, Palm Jumeirah Mall (Nakheel Mall until September 2025), Golden Mile Galleria and The Palm Tower, home to The View, all linked by the monorail. Palm West Beach, on its western side, is a strip of sand lined with restaurants, bars and hotels such as Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah and Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah. FIVE Palm Jumeirah, Fairmont The Palm and The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm (open during a phased refurbishment) are also on the trunk.
  • The fronds are home to about 1,500 beachfront villas. They are residential, so most visitors stay on the trunk or the crescent.
  • The crescent is reached from the trunk through a 1.4 km undersea tunnel. Atlantis The Palm and Atlantis The Royal sit at its centre. The West Crescent has One&Only The Palm, Raffles The Palm, Kempinski Hotel Palm Jumeirah and W Dubai – The Palm. The East Crescent has Rixos, Aloft, Taj Exotica, Anantara and Sofitel.

In short: choose the trunk for the monorail, malls and beach restaurants, and the crescent for a quieter resort stay where taxis are your main way out.

Best luxury hotels on Palm Jumeirah

The Palm has far more five-star resorts than we can list, so these four each suit a different trip: families, couples, a quiet escape and all-inclusive.

Atlantis, The Palm

Area: Centre of the crescent · Best for: families · Guest rating: 9.2/10 (18,831 reviews)

The Palm’s landmark resort sits on a private beach at the centre of the crescent. Atlantis gives resort guests free access to Aquaventure World, which it describes as the world’s largest waterpark, and the listing adds daily entry to the Lost World Aquarium. Every room has a balcony, and the restaurants include Nobu, Hakkasan and Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen.

Good to know: With more than 1,500 rooms it is a very big resort, and the listing notes that selected areas are undergoing enhancement work. The monorail stops by the waterpark entrance, handy for Palm Jumeirah Mall and the tram.

Atlantis The Royal

Area: Crescent, next to Atlantis The Palm · Best for: couples and special occasions · Guest rating: 9.2/10 (5,611 reviews)

Rooms, suites and penthouses look out over the sea or the Palm, and some have private pools. There is a sky pool, a private beach, a spa and the Skyblaze fountain show, and the listing counts seven celebrity-chef restaurants among its places to eat. Aquaventure World is next door.

Good to know: Guests score it 9.6 for comfort and cleanliness but 8.7 for value for money, so treat it as a splurge.

One&Only The Palm

Area: West Crescent · Best for: couples and a quiet stay · Guest rating: 9.3/10 (456 reviews)

A boutique beach resort with Andalusian-style buildings, gardens and a private sandy beach, and the highest guest rating in this guide. Chef Yannick Alléno oversees the dining, from breakfast at ZEST to sundowners and Mediterranean seafood at 101. The listing notes that Condé Nast Traveller readers voted it the top resort in the Middle East in 2024.

Good to know: The listing includes an airport shuttle; ask whether it is charged when you book.

Rixos The Palm Hotel & Suites

Area: East Crescent · Best for: an all-inclusive beach holiday · Guest rating: 9.0/10 (620 reviews)

Stays here are ultra all-inclusive. All 316 rooms and suites have at least one sea-view balcony and modern Turkish design, and there is a private beach, a themed pool, the Anjana Spa, the all-day À La Turca restaurant and L’Olivo for Mediterranean food.

Good to know: The East Crescent is a taxi ride from the monorail, so it suits guests happy to stay on site. See also our all-inclusive hotels guide.

Best mid-range hotels on Palm Jumeirah

The Palm’s four-star hotels give you a pool, beach access and the Palm address for less than the big resorts.

NH Collection Dubai The Palm

Area: The trunk, by Palm Jumeirah Mall · Best for: shopping, dining and getting around · Guest rating: 8.6/10 (6,038 reviews)

There are two pools, a spa, four restaurants and a bar, with rooms facing the sea or the city and family rooms available. The hotel’s own site puts Palm Jumeirah Mall about 330 metres away, and the monorail stops at the mall.

Good to know: The listing shows beachfront but not a private beach, and the hotel puts Palm West Beach 800 metres away, so check beach access before you book.

Aloft Palm Jumeirah

Area: East Crescent · Best for: young travellers and a lively scene · Guest rating: 8.5/10 (1,301 reviews)

A four-star with 194 loft-style rooms, an outdoor pool, a private beach area and seven restaurants and bars. These include a beach bar at Aloft Aloha Beach, Meraki Greek Taverna and the rooftop Luchador cantina, which looks out towards Burj Al Arab.

Good to know: It is built around music and a social scene, so it is not the place for a quiet break.

Tumbi Hotel Dubai The Palm, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Area: The trunk, Palm Jumeirah Road · Best for: couples and small families · Guest rating: 8.5/10 (477 reviews)

It has a rooftop pool, a private beach area, a sauna, a steam room and a fitness centre. Family rooms come with sea views and balconies, some interconnecting, and breakfast includes a full English.

Good to know: There are only two restaurants on site, but Palm West Beach’s restaurants are within walking distance.

Budget hotels on Palm Jumeirah: the best-value options

There are no real budget hotels on Palm Jumeirah; a four-star is the most affordable way to stay on the island. Of the more than 20 Palm hotels we compared, Radisson Beach Resort gets the best value-for-money score from guests (9.1) and voco is joint second (9.0). For genuine budget rooms, try Dubai Marina, a few tram stops away, or our budget hotels guide.

Radisson Beach Resort Palm Jumeirah

Area: Palm West Beach · Best for: beach lovers watching the budget · Guest rating: 9.2/10 (10,219 reviews)

It sits on Palm West Beach with a private beach area, two pools, a spa, a fitness centre and a pool bar. Family and interconnecting rooms are available, the restaurant menu runs from Tex-Mex to seafood, and there is a minimarket on site.

Good to know: Al Ittihad Park monorail station is about a three-minute walk from Palm West Beach.

voco Dubai The Palm

Area: Palm West Beach · Best for: couples and small families · Guest rating: 9.0/10 (1,633 reviews)

A beachfront four-star with a private beach area, an outdoor pool, a spa and a pool bar. Rooms have sea or city views, family rooms come with sofa beds, and the restaurant serves Mediterranean and European food.

Good to know: There is one outdoor pool rather than several, so if pool space matters, the Radisson nearby has two.

Is Palm Jumeirah safe?

For most visitors, yes. UK government advice for the UAE asks travellers to take sensible precautions with their belongings, and on the Palm the main things to watch are the sea and the roads rather than crime.

  • Swim only at beaches with lifeguards and check the flags first; official advice warns that rip currents can occur at any beach.
  • Cross roads only at marked pedestrian crossings. Crossing elsewhere is illegal and can lead to a fine.
  • Use licensed taxis or apps such as Careem and Uber, especially late at night.
  • Keep an eye on your drink at parties and brunches, as official advice warns that drinks can be spiked.

Getting around from Palm Jumeirah

The Palm Monorail covers the trunk and Atlantis, the tram links the island to Dubai Marina and the metro, and taxis do the rest.

  • Palm Monorail: the only public transport on the island, with four stations: Palm Gateway at the base of the trunk, Al Ittihad Park (for Palm West Beach and Golden Mile Galleria), Palm Jumeirah Mall (for The View) and Atlantis Aquaventure. Trains run every 15 minutes, from 9am (first train from Palm Gateway) to 10pm (last train from Atlantis). An end-to-end single is AED 20 (AED 30 return) and shorter hops cost AED 5 to 10 one way; children under five or under 110 cm travel free. It reopened on 10 July 2026 after a six-month maintenance closure, so check palmmonorail.com before you rely on it.
  • Tram and metro: there is no metro on the Palm. From Palm Gateway, a footbridge (about a 10-minute walk) leads to the Palm Jumeirah tram stop, for Dubai Marina, JBR and the Red Line at Sobha Realty and DMCC stations. See our Dubai Metro guide.
  • Taxis: taxis and ride-hailing apps are the practical choice for the East and West Crescent hotels, which the monorail does not reach. Allow extra time at rush hour.
  • From the airport: Dubai International (DXB) is about 30 to 35 minutes by car outside rush hour, according to hotels on the Palm. Al Maktoum International (DWC) is about 42 km away, roughly 25 to 40 minutes. See our tips on Dubai airport services and transfers.

Things to do near Palm Jumeirah

The big draws here are the water and the views, and some cost nothing.

  • Walk the Boardwalk, a promenade along the crescent open to everyone, or watch the sunset from Palm West Beach.
  • If you are not staying at Atlantis The Palm, an Aquaventure World day pass with the Lost World Aquarium covers both and is rated 4.5 by more than 5,700 guests.
  • Go up The View at The Palm, an observation deck on level 52 of The Palm Tower, 240 metres above sea level, next to Palm Jumeirah Mall and its monorail station. Its website gives opening hours of 9am to 7pm daily.
  • See the island from above with a tandem skydive over the Palm, including photos and video, rated 4.8 by more than 1,900 guests.
  • Get out on the water on a jet ski, or take a yacht tour from Dubai Marina with breakfast or a BBQ, rated 4.7 by more than 22,000 guests.

Best time to stay on Palm Jumeirah

November to April is the most comfortable time for beach days on the Palm, when Dubai’s weather is at its coolest. From June to September it is very hot and humid, with average highs of about 40 to 42°C, so plan pool and beach time for early morning and late afternoon. See our Dubai weather guide for month-by-month detail.

Palm Jumeirah hotels: frequently asked questions

Is Palm Jumeirah a good area to stay in?

Yes, if you want a beach resort holiday with pools, beach clubs and Atlantis on the island. It is less convenient for sightseeing in Downtown or old Dubai, as there is no metro.

Is it better to stay on the trunk or the crescent?

Choose the trunk for the monorail, Palm Jumeirah Mall and Palm West Beach restaurants. Choose the crescent for a quieter resort stay, but expect to rely on taxis.

Are there budget hotels on Palm Jumeirah?

Not really. Four-star hotels are the most affordable option, led by Radisson Beach Resort and voco on Palm West Beach. For budget rooms, look at Dubai Marina or our budget hotels guide.

How do you get around Palm Jumeirah?

The Palm Monorail runs every 15 minutes along the trunk between Palm Gateway and Atlantis. For crescent hotels and trips off the island, use taxis, ride-hailing apps or the Dubai Tram from Palm Gateway.

How far is Palm Jumeirah from Dubai airport?

Dubai International (DXB) is about 30 to 35 minutes by car outside rush hour; Al Maktoum International (DWC) is roughly 25 to 40 minutes.

Do Atlantis guests get free entry to Aquaventure?

At Atlantis The Palm, yes: Atlantis gives resort guests free access to Aquaventure World, and the hotel’s listing adds the Lost World Aquarium. Atlantis The Royal’s listing mentions waterpark access but doesn’t say it is free, so check your rate when you book.
