The best luxury and 5-star hotels in Dubai fall into three groups: beach resorts on Palm Jumeirah, the Jumeirah coast and JBR; city hotels in Downtown and DIFC with skyline views; and quieter hideaways on small islands or in the desert. Of the 14 hotels in this guide, Bvlgari Resort, Waldorf Astoria DIFC and Banyan Tree Bluewaters have the highest guest ratings on Booking.com, at 9.5 out of 10.

Where you stay shapes the trip as much as the hotel does. As a quick guide:

Every hotel here was open and showed rooms for December 2026 when we checked. If you’re still deciding on an area, start with our guide to where to stay in Dubai.

Which luxury hotels in Dubai are closed in 2026?

Three of Dubai’s best-known luxury hotels are closed for renovation, so we’ve left them out of this guide.

  • Burj Al Arab closed on 15 April 2026 for an 18-month restoration, and its Booking.com listing is closed. Visit Dubai expects it to reopen in October 2027, Gulf News reported on 29 September 2026.
  • Armani Hotel Dubai in Burj Khalifa closed on 1 April 2026 for renovation, with a reopening targeted for the last quarter of 2026. When we checked on 21 October, Booking.com showed no rooms for December 2026 or early January 2027.
  • Park Hyatt Dubai on Dubai Creek closed in May 2026 for renovation and was expected to reopen in November 2026. When we checked on 21 October, Booking.com showed no rooms for November or December.

Closures checked on 21 October 2026. Reopening dates can move, so check the hotel’s own website before you plan around one.

Beach resorts: Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah and JBR

Dubai’s luxury beach resorts are on Palm Jumeirah, along the Jumeirah coast and at JBR. The Palm has the biggest resorts, Jumeirah puts you closer to the city, and JBR has the most going on outside the hotel.

Atlantis The Royal

Area: Palm Jumeirah crescent · Best for: a big-name resort with plenty to do · Guest rating: 9.2/10 (5,611 reviews)

On the crescent of Palm Jumeirah, next to Atlantis, The Palm and Aquaventure World, this is the Palm’s showpiece resort. It has a sky pool, a private beach, a spa and 16 restaurants and bars, several from celebrity chefs, plus the Skyblaze fountain show. Rooms, suites and penthouses look out over the sea or the Palm, and some come with terraces and private pools.

Good to know: With nightclubs, beach clubs and busy restaurants, it’s lively rather than secluded. Check whether your rate includes entry to Aquaventure World before you book.

One&Only The Palm

Area: Palm Jumeirah · Best for: couples and a quiet, boutique stay · Guest rating: 9.3/10 (456 reviews)

A smaller resort with Andalusian-style architecture, gardens and a private sandy beach. There are three pools and a spa, and the restaurants are overseen by chef Yannick Alléno, including 101 for seafood and sundowners. The listing notes that Condé Nast Traveller readers voted it the top resort in the Middle East in 2024.

Good to know: It caters for families too, but it’s at its best for a calm, food-focused stay rather than waterparks and nightlife.

Raffles The Palm

Area: West Crescent, Palm Jumeirah · Best for: a long beach and a big spa · Guest rating: 9.0/10 (2,633 reviews)

Raffles has a 500-metre private white-sand beach on the western crescent and an outdoor pool with views back to the city. Its 3,000-square-metre Cinq Mondes Spa has 23 treatment rooms and an indoor lap pool, and restaurants serve Japanese, Mediterranean and international food.

Good to know: The crescent is the far end of the Palm, so trips into the city take longer than from the mainland resorts.

Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach

Area: Jumeirah · Best for: a beach stay with the city close by · Guest rating: 9.4/10 (955 reviews)

A beachfront resort on Jumeirah Road with a private beach, two outdoor pools, an indoor pool and a spa. Rooms mix modern style with Arabic touches, suite bathrooms have deep soaking tubs, and Mercury Rooftop is on the sixth floor. Guests score its cleanliness, comfort and staff 9.7.

Good to know: The listing puts Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain about 15 minutes away by car, which makes it easy to mix beach days with sightseeing. More options nearby are in our Jumeirah beach hotels guide.

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai

Area: Jumeirah · Best for: club-lounge stays near the city · Guest rating: 9.3/10 (671 reviews)

On Jumeirah Beach Road with direct beach access, five outdoor pools and seven restaurants, this is a beach resort with the city at hand: the listing puts Mercato Mall 250 metres away. The spa connects to a full fitness studio.

Good to know: Club rooms and suites include access to The Club Lounge, which looks out over the Dubai skyline, so compare the club rate if you’d use it.

Jumeirah Al Qasr

Area: Madinat Jumeirah, Al Sufouh · Best for: families and a grand resort feel · Guest rating: 9.2/10 (1,398 reviews)

Designed as an Arabian palace within the Madinat Jumeirah resort, Al Qasr sits on two kilometres of private beach. The Talise spa has overwater treatment rooms, and the supervised Jumeirah Circle kids’ club and family pools make it an easy choice with children.

Good to know: For a quieter stay in the same resort, Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf (Guest rating 9.3/10, 828 reviews) has rooms and suites in its Arabian Houses, with terraces, set among gardens and waterways.

Address Beach Resort

Area: JBR · Best for: views and the buzz of JBR · Guest rating: 9.4/10 (3,067 reviews)

Two 77-storey towers joined by a sky bridge, with an infinity pool the listing puts at nearly 294 metres above sea level, looking over Bluewaters, Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina. Lower down there are four pools and nine restaurants, and the hotel opens straight onto The Walk.

Good to know: The listing places it about 300 metres from Marina Beach, and JBR around it is busy rather than quiet. Our Dubai Marina and JBR guide covers the area in detail.

City and skyline: Downtown, DIFC and Wafi

City hotels are the better choice if your days revolve around Burj Khalifa, Dubai Mall, restaurants or meetings. None of them have a beach, so plan a beach club day or split your stay with a few nights on the coast.

Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre

Area: DIFC · Best for: business trips and city breaks · Guest rating: 9.5/10 (789 reviews)

In the Burj Daman tower in DIFC, the financial district, with 247 rooms and suites that all face the skyline, a rooftop pool and a spa. There are three restaurants, including Bull and Bear, and the listing puts it one metro stop from Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. Guests score its cleanliness, comfort and staff 9.8.

Good to know: For another option in the same district, Four Seasons Hotel DIFC (Guest rating 9.2/10, 304 reviews) is in Gate Village nearby, with a glass-walled outdoor pool. See our guide to hotels near DWTC and DIFC.

Kempinski Central Avenue Dubai

Area: Downtown Dubai · Best for: a central base for sightseeing · Guest rating: 9.4/10 (5,394 reviews)

On Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in the heart of Downtown, with 244 rooms and suites that have balconies and baths. There’s an outdoor pool, a spa with a sauna, three restaurants and lounges, and an indoor play area for children. Guests give its location 9.8, the highest location score of any hotel in this guide.

Good to know: Some rooms are interconnecting, which helps families who want two rooms side by side.

Palace Downtown

Area: Downtown Dubai, by Burj Lake · Best for: Dubai Fountain views and Arabian style · Guest rating: 8.9/10 (3,389 reviews)

Built in the style of a traditional palace, it overlooks the Dubai Fountain and the lake around Burj Khalifa, and the listing puts Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar a five-minute walk away. Rooms have balconies, there’s a palm-lined outdoor pool, and the Arabian-style spa has a hammam and steam rooms.

Good to know: Its value-for-money score (8.4) is the lowest in this guide, so compare it with Kempinski and other hotels in our Downtown Dubai guide.

Raffles Dubai

Area: Wafi, Bur Dubai side of the creek · Best for: space and butler service away from the crowds · Guest rating: 9.2/10 (2,256 reviews)

Shaped like a pyramid next to Wafi Mall, Raffles has rooms with large private balconies looking over the skyline, and butler service for every room. There’s an outdoor pool, a spa with saunas and steam rooms, and seven places to eat and drink, including the Japanese restaurant TOMO.

Good to know: It’s away from the beach and Downtown’s busiest streets, which suits a calmer city stay. For old Dubai and the creek, see our Bur Dubai hotels guide.

Desert and island escapes

For privacy and a slower pace, look at Dubai’s small islands and the desert. These hotels feel removed from the city while staying within reach of it.

Bvlgari Resort Dubai

Area: Jumeira Bay Island · Best for: privacy and design · Guest rating: 9.5/10 (399 reviews)

Jumeira Bay is a seahorse-shaped island joined to the Jumeirah coast by a 300-metre bridge. Bvlgari has 101 rooms and suites plus 20 villas with their own pools and gardens, a private marina and yacht club, La Spiaggia beach club with a mosaic pool, Il Ristorante Niko Romito and a 1,700-square-metre spa with a hammam and indoor pool.

Good to know: Guests rate the WiFi 7.2, well below the rest of the stay, so bear that in mind if you plan to work from your room.

Banyan Tree Dubai at Bluewaters

Area: Bluewaters Island · Best for: a calm beach close to JBR · Guest rating: 9.5/10 (1,112 reviews)

Set on 500 metres of private beach on Bluewaters Island, with Ain Dubai as a backdrop, it feels quieter than the towers across the water. Rooms have balconies and Asian-inspired design, and there are pools, gardens, four restaurants and a Banyan Tree Spa.

Good to know: A pedestrian bridge links Bluewaters to JBR, so the restaurants on The Walk are within reach on foot.

Bab Al Shams, A Rare Finds Desert Resort

Area: Desert, off Al Qudra Road · Best for: a desert break between city days · Guest rating: 9.3/10 (1,831 reviews)

Designed like a fortified Arab village, Bab Al Shams sits in the dunes within the Al Marmoom reserve, where native wildlife often wanders past. It has three pools, four restaurants and a spa, and the Al Qudra lakes are nearby.

Good to know: The listing puts it about 45 minutes from the city centre, so it works best as a one- or two-night add-on rather than your only base. Our desert safari guide covers other ways to see the dunes.

How to choose a luxury hotel in Dubai

Start by deciding whether the beach or the city is the centre of your trip, then check what your room rate includes. Timing matters too: winter is peak season and the best rooms go early.

Beach resort or city hotel?

Pick a beach resort if you plan to spend most days by the pool and sea, and a city hotel if your trip is built around sightseeing, shopping, dining or meetings. Many travellers split a stay, with a few nights in Downtown followed by a few on the Palm or the Jumeirah coast. Travelling with children? Our family hotels guide has more ideas.

Are club lounges worth paying for?

A club room costs more but adds lounge access, which often includes breakfast, light bites and evening drinks. It can pay off if you’d use the lounge every day, so read what the listing says the lounge includes and when it’s open before you choose.

When is the best time for a luxury stay?

November to March has the most comfortable weather and is also peak season, with Christmas and New Year the busiest weeks. From May to September average daytime highs are about 39 to 42°C, so beach time shrinks to mornings and evenings and a city hotel near indoor attractions can make more sense. Our Dubai weather guide goes month by month.

When should you book?

Book as early as you can for Christmas, New Year and the Dubai Shopping Festival, which runs from 4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027 this season. The most special rooms are limited (Bvlgari has 20 villas, for example), so they tend to go first. Choosing a rate with free cancellation lets you book early and still change plans. Check our Dubai events calendar before you fix your dates.

Luxury experiences in Dubai

Dubai’s classic splurges are seeing the city from above and from the water. These can all be booked in advance:

Luxury hotels in Dubai: frequently asked questions

What is the best luxury hotel in Dubai?

It depends on your trip. Of the hotels in this guide, Bvlgari Resort, Waldorf Astoria DIFC and Banyan Tree Bluewaters have the highest guest ratings on Booking.com (9.5/10), while Atlantis The Royal and Kempinski Central Avenue combine high scores with more than 5,000 reviews each.

Is the Burj Al Arab open?

No. Burj Al Arab closed on 15 April 2026 for an 18-month restoration, and Visit Dubai expects it to reopen in October 2027 (reported by Gulf News in September 2026). Jumeirah Al Qasr and Jumeirah Dar Al Masyaf at Madinat Jumeirah are close by and open.

Are Armani Hotel Dubai and Park Hyatt Dubai open?

Not yet. Armani Hotel Dubai closed on 1 April 2026 and Park Hyatt Dubai in May 2026, both for renovation, and both were due back in late 2026. When we checked on 21 October 2026, neither showed rooms on Booking.com for December, so check the hotel’s own website for the latest date.

Which area of Dubai is best for a luxury beach holiday?

Palm Jumeirah has the largest resorts, such as Atlantis The Royal and Raffles The Palm. The Jumeirah coast, with Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental, puts you closer to Downtown, while JBR and Bluewaters suit travellers who want restaurants and nightlife nearby. See our Palm Jumeirah guide for more.

Do Dubai’s luxury hotels have private beaches?

Most of the beach resorts do. Booking.com lists a private beach area at Atlantis The Royal, One&Only The Palm, Raffles The Palm, Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach, Jumeirah Al Qasr, Bvlgari and Banyan Tree Bluewaters. City hotels in Downtown and DIFC have pools but no beach.

When is the best time to book a luxury hotel in Dubai?

For winter stays, book early, especially for Christmas, New Year and the Dubai Shopping Festival (4 December 2026 to 17 January 2027). November to March has the most comfortable weather; see our Dubai weather guide.
